Add the sugar to the espresso. After cooling, add the vanilla bean and vodka. Transfer to a dark glass bottle. After 2-4 weeks strain, remove the vanilla bean and transfer to a new bottle.
You may substitute half a cup of vodka with brandy to obtain a slightly different flavor.
